Something fun to read

There are a lot of books out there for political junkies to read. If there is one thing Bush has done, it has been to increase the number of books read by the average individual. From Coulter's crap to funny man Franken's Lies: And the Lying Liars Who Tell Them a Fair and Balanced look at the Right. So it's nice to find something for us Joe Lockhart wannabes that isn't so vitriolic; Tony Payton's Campaign war Stories. The book is full of anectdotes from veteran campaign workers, Republican and Democrat, and has deeply personal stories and amusing foibles. My favorite is one from the '84 Mondale presidential campaign from Joe Trippi. He tells how he wrapped up the New Jersey primary and was reunited with his estranged father thanks to "Fighting Fritz." The most heart-touching part is... you'll have to read the book.
