Here's a thought

John Fund, editor for the Wall Street Journal editorial page, was on Washington Journal this morning. He just so happened to bring up Sosnik's comments on how out-of-touch Democrats are with "regular people." Here's a thought, why doesn't Sosnik just give money to the GOP to run against us? It's one thing to assess our weaknesses and try to fix them, it's another to find fault where there is none and give ammunition to the opposition. It did exactly what I thought it would, it put Michael Tomasky on the defensive. He had to sit there and agree that Democrats are out of touch. What was he going to do, argue that 59 million people and 284 electors are wrong? Everytime someone utters the kind of crap that Sosnik and, yes, Donna Brazille did the other night, we just paint ourselves right into a friggin' corner. Cause I'm so sure that Republican leaders are in touch. I'm sure George W. Bush and Dick Cheney are at Applebee's right now. I'm sure Bill Frist is with them eating a chicken sandwich while they talk about fiscal discipline and personal choice with Sen. Tom Coburn and his Baby Back Ribs. I'm sure Ed Gillespie and Ken Mehlman eat there every night and know every waitress by their first names. Rich people don't eat at Applebee's because they don't have to. That's true of both parties. It doesn't mean our leadership is out of touch (unless we're talking about the DLC) it just means they can afford to eat at the Italian place down the street instead. Stop trying to fucking everyman every issue to death. We do not need to understand the culture of red states or listen to country music to win votes. We need to go to our core constituency, minorities and the working poor, and ask them what is going on with them and try to use government to fix their problems. That's what Democrats do, that's what we believe in. If we screw around trying to woo Republicans, then we are going to end up passing enormouse tax cuts for rich people. Oops, we already did that. Look, you are either part of the solution, or part of the problem. Be part of the solution to the mess the GOP is making.
